My professional evaluative blog - everything innovative technological and educational
I’ve just been looking at tag clouds which basically take text from your blog or web page and create ‘clouds’ of ‘tags’ or bunches of keywords. I particularly like this one from Wordle because you can change how the text looks which can be quite arty. Colleagues at another Sheffield City Learning Centre have looked at Tag Crowd and they suggest it would be “ideal for use in Modern Languages, looking at high frequency words (see image 1 above), in English for text analysis (see image 2 below, tag cloud of Lear’s poem “The Jumblies”) or for any subject where students need to learn keywords.” It could also add another dimension to fiction or poetry writing - like the Virtual Poetry project that we ran here at the CLC - students could respond to images with their own tag clouds perhaps tagged in Flickr.
